Camera and Match Recording Policy

 

1. Purpose

Football For All allows games to be recorded for positive purposes such as personal highlights, coaching, performance analysis and promoting community football.

This includes Veo cameras, GoPros, mobile phones, fixed cameras and point-of-view or body-mounted cameras.

Recording is permitted only where this policy is followed.

2. Permission to record

The person recording is responsible for obtaining permission from the venue before bringing or using any recording equipment.

Football For All permits recording where:

  • The venue has approved it
  • The Football For All host or organiser has approved it
  • All participating players have been informed and are happy to be recorded
  • The equipment can be used safely without disrupting the game

The host or organiser may refuse or stop recording at any time.

If any player objects and cannot reasonably be kept out of the recording, recording must not begin or must stop.

Booking or attending a Football For All game does not automatically mean that a player has agreed to be recorded.

3. Information players must receive

Before recording begins, players must be told:

  • Who is responsible for the recording
  • What equipment is being used
  • Whether audio will be captured
  • How the footage will be used
  • Whether it will remain private, be shared with players or be posted publicly

Players arriving after the initial announcement must also be informed.

4. Posting footage publicly

Permission to record a game does not automatically include permission to publish the footage publicly.

Before posting identifiable players on social media, YouTube or another public platform, the person posting must ensure that the players have been informed and are happy for the footage to be published.

Players must not be named or tagged without their permission.

Where a player agrees to recording but not public posting, the footage must remain private or be edited so that the player cannot reasonably be identified.

5. Audio, livestreaming and private areas

Audio recording should be disabled unless all players have been clearly informed and have agreed.

Cameras must not be used to deliberately capture private conversations.

Livestreaming requires advance permission from Football For All, the venue, the host or organiser and all participating players.

Recording is not permitted in changing rooms, toilets, showers, treatment areas or any other place where someone would reasonably expect privacy.

6. Equipment and safety

Recording equipment must:

  • Be securely positioned or attached
  • Not create a trip, collision or injury risk
  • Not obstruct the pitch, goals, exits or venue equipment
  • Not delay or interfere with the game
  • Be removed or repositioned immediately if requested

The owner is responsible for their equipment. Football For All is not responsible for loss, theft or damage, except where responsibility cannot legally be excluded.

7. Spectators and other venue users

The person recording should take reasonable steps to avoid unnecessarily filming spectators, children, venue staff, members of the public or players taking part in unrelated games.

Footage featuring identifiable children must not be published without appropriate permission from their parent or guardian.

8. Acceptable use

Footage may be used for:

  • Personal memories and highlights
  • Private sharing with participating players
  • Coaching and performance analysis
  • Positive and respectful football content
  • Supporting a genuine complaint, incident report or safety concern

Any editing, captioning or commentary should fairly reflect what happened.

9. Unacceptable use

Footage must not be used to:

  • Provoke or escalate arguments
  • Shame, ridicule, bully, harass or target another person
  • Encourage abuse or retaliation
  • Create or manufacture controversy for views, attention or engagement
  • Publish private conversations or personal information
  • Misrepresent an incident through misleading editing or commentary
  • Add abusive, discriminatory, false or inflammatory captions
  • Promote violence, threats or dangerous behaviour
  • Bring Football For All, its players, hosts, organisers or venues into disrepute
  • Suggest that Football For All has approved or endorsed the content when it has not

Football For All will take action where recordings are used to entice arguments, create hostility or deliberately generate controversy.

10. Complaints and evidence

Nothing in this policy prevents a person from making a genuine complaint, reporting misconduct or providing footage privately as evidence.

Relevant footage may be provided to Football For All, the venue, an insurer, a legal adviser, the police or another appropriate authority.

Footage of injuries, altercations or sensitive incidents must not be published for entertainment, ridicule or engagement.

Where footage may be relevant to an investigation, the original recording should be kept securely while the matter is reviewed.

11. Removal requests

Football For All may require footage to be removed, edited or restricted where it reasonably believes that:

  • Permission was not obtained
  • This policy has been breached
  • Someone is being harassed, humiliated or placed at risk
  • The content is misleading or contains private information
  • The content is provoking or escalating conflict
  • Removal has been requested by the venue or an appropriate authority

The person responsible must comply within the period stated by Football For All, normally within 24 hours.

They may also be required to remove names, tags or captions, blur an individual, restrict access or request the removal of reposted copies under their control.

Where footage is relevant evidence, Football For All may require the public version to be removed while a private original is preserved.

12. Enforcement

Breaches of this policy may result in:

  • An instruction to stop recording
  • Removal from the game
  • Withdrawal of future recording permission
  • Removal or editing of published content
  • Temporary suspension
  • A permanent ban
  • Reporting the content to the relevant platform, venue or authority

Serious breaches may result in immediate suspension or a permanent ban.

Anyone who refuses, without reasonable justification, to comply with an instruction to remove prohibited content may be permanently banned from Football For All games.

13. No automatic right to record

Recording Football For All games is permitted at Football For All’s discretion and is not an automatic right.

Football For All, the venue or the host may refuse or withdraw permission at any time.
