Football for All Safeguarding Policy
1. Policy Statement:
Football for All is for everyone aged 18+. We are committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all participants and bystanders during our fixtures. Whilst we are focused on adult football, we acknowledge that there are instances where our players might share a pitch with teams that include individuals under 18. Thus, it’s paramount to create a safe and respectful environment for all.
2. Scope of the Policy:
This policy applies to all members, coaches, volunteers, and anyone affiliated with Football for All.
3. Key Principles:
- All individuals have the right to partake in football in a safe environment.
- We uphold the welfare of children and young persons and will act promptly on any concerns raised.
- We champion respectful behaviour and will not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination.
4. Guidelines when sharing a pitch with teams Including Under 18s:
- Maintain Distance: Players and members are advised to respect boundaries by keeping a reasonable distance from teams with players under 18, especially during breaks.
- Avoid Direct Communication: Refrain from direct communication with underage players from other teams. If interaction is necessary, it’s advised to speak with the team’s coach or supervising adult.
- Exhibit Respect: All members should act respectfully, use appropriate language, and avoid any comments or actions that could be misunderstood.
- Challenge & Report: Members are encouraged to challenge and report any inappropriate behaviour, whether it originates from our team or others. All concerns should be reported to the club’s management.
- Prohibition of Profanity: We recognise the importance of maintaining a professional and respectful environment for all players and spectators. Therefore, the use of profanity is strictly prohibited during our fixtures, including training sessions and matches. Members are expected to communicate without using offensive, derogatory, or inappropriate language. This ensures a positive and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved, including teams that may include individuals under 18.
- Dressing Room Etiquette: To respect the privacy and comfort of all participants, members are not permitted to change clothes on the football pitch or in public viewing areas. Designated changing facilities or dressing rooms should be used for changing clothes before and after games. This guideline is in place to maintain decency and respect towards all players and spectators, especially when sharing facilities with teams that include minors.
5. Reporting Procedure:
- Immediate Reporting: If a member observes or is involved in an incident that breaches our safeguarding policy, the first port of call is to report the issue to the pitch staff on the day, if possible. This allows for immediate action to be taken to address the concern.
- Escalation to the Safeguarding Officer: Following the initial report, the matter should be escalated to the Club’s Safeguarding Officer. The officer is responsible for confidentially documenting the incident and undertaking the necessary procedures. This may include liaising with appropriate authorities if deemed necessary. Contact information for the Safeguarding Officer will be readily available to all members and displayed on the club’s official channels.
6. Safeguarding Officer:
Football for All will designate a Safeguarding Officer, responsible for matters of safeguarding within the club. Their contact details will be available to all members and displayed on the club’s official channels.
7. Training:
Despite being an 18+ club, all members and coaches will be acquainted with this policy upon joining. The importance of appropriate conduct, especially around under-18 players from other teams, will be emphasised.
8. Review:
This policy will undergo an annual review or sooner if required due to changes in club activities or UK legislation.
By adhering to this policy, we ensure that Football for All remains a venue of enjoyment for football enthusiasts, guaranteeing safety and respect for everyone on the pitch.
